therapy |
Theraputic manipulation of the soft tissues of the body affecting the muscular, skeletal, circulatory, lymphatic, nervous, and other systems of the body thus aiding the ability of the body to heal itself. Primarily applied with the hands, sometimes forearms or elbows are used for applying fixed or movable pressure, holding, and/or causing movement to parts of the body. |
| Meridians |
Meridians are the pathways of qi (chi) and blood flow through the body. Qi flows continuously from one meridian to another. Any break in the flow is an indication of imbalance. Restoring the qi is the ultimate goal in restoring overall health and well being to the individual. Massage therapists assist clients in restoring this natural energetic flow.

| Polarity therapy |
Polarity therapy is a synthesis of ancient Eastern and alternative medicine health care ideas, centered on the concept of a human energy field. Using touch and verbal interaction practitioners of polarity therapy seek to balance and restore the natural flow of energy which flows from the universe and into the body through the chakras.
Polarity therapists work with the reciprocal, complementary or "polarized" forces, described with the traditional Chinese words yin and yang. These dualities are mediated by a subtle third neutral factor. In Ayurveda, the three factors are known as Rajas, Tamas, and Satva.
Polarity therapy has four distinct areas of technique, by which life force energy can be influenced: touch (massage, acupuncture), stretching and exercise, diet, and mental-emotional process.
